How to Replace Your Car Keys

Car Key Duplication

Losing your car keys is always frustrating. Fortunately, you can remove stress from the situation by taking advantage of car key replacement services in Orlando from a trusted company. The process is quicker and more affordable than you may think, even more so than going to the dealer. First, contact a locksmith with the following information ready:

Make, Model, and Year of the Vehicle

Your Car Registration and Title

Your Vehicle Identification Number

The locksmith needs this information to determine what kind of key your vehicle needs, as well as to confirm you are the rightful owner of the vehicle you are trying to access. Car key replacement services are available for all types of keys, including key fobs, transponder keys, and “smart” keys. However, the type will determine the complexity of the job and thus how long it will take and how much it will cost. Be sure to ask the locksmith for an estimate.

Once your key is cut, it will be delivered to you so that you can get back on the road. To avoid an extra hassle in the future, you may want to have two keys to be made—that way, you will have a handy backup in the future if you ever lose your key again.

Why You Need to Choose a Trusted Locksmith Company in Orlando

Locksmith Services

It happens to everyone at some point; they lose their keys or realize they left them inside their locked car or house. When you are locked out, you need a trusted locksmith company in Orlando to help you out. However, you shouldn’t call the first company you see; it is important to do a little research even in an emergency for these reasons:

Your Priceless Security: Your lock is a crucial part of your security system. In the worst-case scenario, you could accidentally choose someone with criminal intentions rather than a legitimate business. Don’t take unnecessary risks—make sure the locksmith company you are considering has a good reputation before giving them a call.

Your Valuable Time: You need to get your day back on track quickly. When choosing a locksmith, look for a company that provides 24/7 services with a short turnaround time. They should be able to give you a time estimate for arriving at your site, allowing you to judge whether they suit your schedule.

Your Hard-Earned Money: Rates can range widely across different locksmith companies. You could save significantly by getting price estimates from at least a few teams. Take the time to call around and find a trusted company with competitive rates.

The New Arrow Locksmith shop

Hurricane Charley barreled through Central Florida on August 14th 2004 and Arrow Locksmith in Orlando took a direct hit along with many of our neighbors in the Central Florida community. Hurricane Charley took our roof; we needed a new shop and fast! Wanting to to stay local to the Pinecastle area we began searching for a new shop. Fortunately one of the property managers that we did work for mentioned a place they had available less than a mile away on South Orange Avenue near Oak Ridge Road. We took one look and quickly made the move to our new and much improved shop.

Arrow Locksmith new shop.

Arrow Locksmith new location at 6004 S. Orange Avenue in Orlando.

We have now been at this location for 14 years and the added space has allowed us to expand our inventory as well as our showroom greatly. The old shop allowed room to display a couple of small safes and very little else. Our new shop has about 20 safes at any one time on display as well as commercial and residential locking hardware and a huge range of custom keys and accessories.

We have much more room to stock just about any lock or door hardware for our commercial and residential customers. We stock door closers, panic bars, commercial lever sets in all functions in both grade 1 and grade 2, residential locks, padlocks for just about any application, file cabinet and desk locks, glass storefront locks, cylinders, pivots, push paddles, mailbox locks …

Turning Back The Clock To 1986

Arrow Locksmith and Door Company in Orlando was founded back in early 1979. This coming February, Arrow Locksmith will celebrate 40 years in business, proudly serving customers in Orlando, Kissimmee, Winter Park and the wider Central Florida region with top quality locksmith service. We have always had a real store where customers could bring their locks to us to save on service call charges or browse locking hardware and safes. I thought it might be interesting to look back at our old shop on West Oak Ridge Road back in 1986.

Wow these photos bring back some fond memories. I was in my third year working at Arrow Locksmith and Door Company where I learned the locksmith trade as an apprentice. I am still here 35 years later! I still have customers stop in the shop to chat about the old days and why they have been loyal customers for over 35 years. The old green and white Dodge van in the photo was my service vehicle, before that we had brand new Hyundai Excels and prior to that I had to suffer driving a Chevrolet Chevette with a bad shifter!

Looking at the service and dispatch area of Arrow Locksmith Service circa 1986.

Above you can see a couple of views of the interior. The old shop on West Oak Ridge Road was tiny and cramped, unlike our spacious new shop on South Orange Avenue just one block south of Oak Ridge Road. I say new, we actually moved in 2004 after Hurricane Charley ripped the roof off.

The first photo shows the key board with our key cutting machines in front. The two machines to the left are still in almost daily use in our current shop! The second photo shows the dispatch and small service area. When I was not out running service calls I would be perched up on that raised section behind the three phones. We used to use 2 way radios to communicate with the locksmiths in the field, no cell phones or computers back then. Now it would be hard to imagine life without them.

Arrow Locksmith Service has come a long way in 40 years, always working to keep up with the latest technology in the security field. We are proud that we have been able to serve the community for all of these years and hope to keep providing locksmith service in Central Florida for many years to come.
